Blog Summary
So I am kind of confused as to The Little Rabbit's blog about "The radio show was like sex with a dwarf in a bowl of cottage cheese." I wasn't there and have no idea what that is about, but the radio show sounded like it was a lot of fun. Megan talked about how she liked Jamboree, except for the booth's that didn't say anything to her. She also mentioned going to the Carol Concert and how much fun she had. She liked the solos and enjoyed the acting out of the Grinch. Culture Jammer talked about the idea of haveing a current events FYS, which is an interesting idea. I'm not sure eeryone would want to do it, but i'm sure there would be enough to make a class for it. And last but not least there was Hockey44's discussion summary from today.

Episode 5
In the begin they talked about how this music is an influence on the people and music that they make , I think is a very true statemnet. Even though I am not a big fan of some of this music doesn't mean that I don't think it was important in any way. The reason I wonldn't normal listen to some of these types of music is because i'm don't care for the really twangy sound some types of music have. I thought it was a little surprising about the song that talked about murder, I think it was called' Fatal Flower Garden.' It was funny that this guy had the worlds largest collection of paper airplanes. It's kind of a weird thing to collect.
Episode 4
I didn't like as much music in this episode compared to the last. There was a song calle 'Judgement,' which was really weird/interesting, I'm not really sure how to descrbe it. I am also not sure if I liked it or not, it's not something I've heard very much. I thought it was interesting how the names of music types have change over time, for example hillbilly is now country music, or race music is now rythem and blues. I thought the song 'Minglewood Blues' was an okay song. I did enjoy the song by Blind Lemon Jefferson. I was a little surprised to hear that he died by freezing to dead on some street.
Episode 3
I admite that I wasn't getting into the music very much. It wasn't until the poem 'The Women Gather' was I intrested. I thought the peom was very interesting. After that they got into the sounds of my city where the guy brought a tape recorder around, I think it was New York City. I liked the guitar in the background. I really liked the song, 'Anytime' from The Music of New Orleans, Volume 3: Music of the Dance Halls. Then another song, 'Snowy Morning Blues,' I liked that song too. Then later they went into a little bit of yodaling music, which honestly I did not like very much. From then on I didn't really get into any of the other music, until they played the Bob Dylan song. I think it's interesting how he sings stories. This one being about a mother who's son goes to war and comes back practically unrecognizable from being shot and wounded and disfigured from the war. It sounded to me like the son only went to for his mothers pride and when he came back, it seemed like he slightly blamed her. May be I am totally off, but thaats what it kind of struck me as.

Disscusion summary for Oct. 24 & 26
On our Tuesday disscusion, Micheal told us about a guitarist named Richard Thompson. He's a kindof folk guitarist whose made a ton of music. Personally Folk rock type music isn't my type of music, but I thought he was pretty good guitarist for that type of music. I thought it was interesting that Rolling Stone named him one of Top 20 Guitarists of all time. We also discussed our ideas for Jamboree. I'm excited that we finally know what we're ggoing to do.
Thursday disscusion day was all about the dance performance. It was alot of fun learning how to do the watermelon crawl and the other, faster line dance. I'll admit I'm not much of a dancer but I had fun learning those dances. I was our first real hands on performance and I thought it was good to get out of the classroom for a change. Good job to everyone in class at learning the watermelon crawl, even if you screwed up alot like I did.

Performance ideas anyone?
So I just looked on the calender of who does what each week and I relize I perform next week. The problem is I don't have any idea of what to do. I was thinking somehting along the lines of art, some visual creative project I could do. I liked the idea of make some type of blues picture out of song lyrics but I didn't want to steal past years project idea. So I was wonder, in the midst of deciding what you want to do for your performance, do you have any ideas for me. It would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, I'm not going to lie, that was a long chapter. I thought it was a pretty interesting read though. I did get confused with the last couple of pages when it talked about James Coyner. I didn't understand how it fit in with Patton and the blues music that was forming in the Delta. I've never really read anything about blues, I learned alot. I did hear some names that I would like to hear on Pandora too. Henry Sloan, Willie Brown, and such. If you've heard them, let me know what you think.
